Every year, Minnesotans look forward to "The Great Minnesota Get-Together," the Minnesota State Fair. It is the largest state fair in the United States by
average daily attendance. Last year a record 1,943,719 people attended
the Fair. With 320 acres of attractions and competitions covering
livestock, horticulture, art, 4-H, science, music, carved butter heads, a
lively midway, politicians, parades, and all manner of amazing
food-on-a-stick, it’s quite spectacular. Since 1859 it has only been
called off 5 times due to wartime hardships and a polio epidemic. It
runs for 12 days at the end of August through Labor Day.
Residents
and guests at The Waters of Highland Park enjoyed a personalized
kickoff to the Minnesota State Fair at their community this week during
an open house block party. Our menu featured:
Mini corn dogs
Bruschetta
Teriyaki chicken-on-a-stick
Fruit-on-a-stick with vanilla dip
Cheese curds
Apple pie in a cup
Fresh lemonade
