Michigan: Strolling with Cranberry Pear Chutney

November Wellness stroll at EHM Senior Solutions - Sterling Heights spiced the halls with a cranberry pear chutney and cinnamon baked pita. Chef Amy Armstrong and dietitians, Dao Tran and Dana Lutz, engaged residents, visitors and team members with a taste of this holiday favorite featuring the powerful superfood: Cranberry. One participant said 'it tastes like Christmas!'.
 Pear and Cranberry Chutney (yields 9 cups)
    8 pears
    2 lbs cranberries
    3 cups apple juice
    1 cup raisins
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 tbsp lemon zest
Peel, core and dice pears. Place in saucepan with remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and chill. Serve with baked pita chips sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg.
